Gen-i Australia, a leading trans-Tasman ICT solutions provider, has appointed Phil Varney as general manager, Australia.
Reporting to Chris Quin, chief executive officer, Gen-i, Phil will be responsible for building core competencies in the Australian operation to support Gen-i’s strategy to be the leading service provider of ICT services in Australasia. Phil will also continue Gen-i’s proven track record of providing seamless ICT services across the trans-Tasman.
Before joining Gen-i, Phil was the director of Arcadia West, and held a number of roles at British Telecommunications including, vice president of global solutions in North America, where he secured two of the largest deals in the companies history worth more than A$2.4 billion dollars. Phil has also held management roles at Motorola, Erskine House and Mars.
Chris Quin, chief executive officer, Gen-i, said, “Phil’s extensive experience in the telecommunications industry will be instrumental in supporting our commitment to managed ICT services for the mid-market, particularly for trans-Tasman clients.

In the financial year to June 2008 Australian wins and re-signs included Goodman Fielder, Lion Nathan, Aon, Australian Stock Exchange, Sydney Ports, NSW Police, IAG, National Heart Foundation, Sydney Water, Department of Primary Industries and OfficeMax.
